Do You Glow in the Dark? Kingdom Building Ministries - Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame (Psalm 34:5 NIV). You've met those people, haven't you? The ones who just seem to glow? It's on their faces, in them, around them and oozing out of them. How did they get that way? Exodus 34:29-35 recounts the story of Moses' coming down from Mount Sinai after having received the Ten Commandements. It says, his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord. Moses did not even realize that his face was glowing. Yet the Israelites were afraid to approach him because of the glow. So Moses put a veil over his face. Now we know there is nothing good within us (Romans 7:18). There is nothing within us that could bring about such radiance. Yet, Moses radiated! How do you explain that glow? Beth Moore related an event that made this passage come to life for her. She tells of the time her son got a glow-in-the-dark shirt for a gift. He was so excited about it that he put it on. He and his mom rushed into the closet to see if it "worked." To his utter disappointment, it did not. Beth was determinded to get it to work or exchange it for one that did work. It was not until "Dad" came home that the secret of the "magic" of the shirt was revealed. He explained that there was nothing inherrently in the shirt itself to cause it to glow. Only when it was held up to a true source of light and had ample opportunity to absorb that light could it "work" like it was supposed to. We, too, have no radiance of our own - no glow. But, when we spend time in the presence of True Light, we absorb Him and become the "reflectors" we were created to be. 2 Corinthians 3:7-18 compares the glory on Moses' face with our present glory. Because of the indwelling of the Spirit, what was glorious has no glory now in comparison with the surpassing glory. And now, we, who with unveiled faced all reflect the Lord's glroy, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit. Sit in His presence. Absorb Him. Look to Him....You will radiate! © 2002. Kingdom Building Ministries. |
