David His name means "Beloved One." "He danced before the Lord with all his might; he leaped for joy, as one transported with the occasion, and all the more because of the disappointment he met with the last time in trying to retrieve the Ark of the Covenant. David is an awesome example that can be used today. David as we know was the King of Israel. He reigned in Hebron, which was Judea, for 7 years and 6 months and bore six sons while King. He reigned as King in Jerusalem for 33 years; 9 sons and 1 daughter (Tamar) were born to him there. This does not include all the children born to him from his concubines & maidens. Yet in all his ungodly affairs, he was an anointed and an appointed King that reigned supreme for 40 years over the House of Israel. This was mentioned to show that David was not a man without sin. Yes an appointed King by the Lord. He had a lustful desire for women and power. Yet he was a man after Gods own heart. David like us knew when sin had entered in and overtaken our pure consciousness. He knew that he could pray to the Lord with a sincere heart and the Lord would forgive him. David was a man, just like us today. He found himself on the run, demanding things that did not belong to him, falling in love and desiring love from others; lying; conspiring to do evil towards others and displayed the spirit of jealousy. Yet there was an occasion that David danced among his people. He rejoiced in victory after retrieving the Ark of the Covenant back to its rightful place. He danced with a natural expression and with great joy and exultation of mind. The word said he danced with all his might. That meant to go all out with all that you have on the inside to praise God. David laid aside his imperial purple attire and put on a plain linen ephod, which was light and convenient for dancing. Thats just like us, we gotta continue to take off all the cares of the world and put the spirit of God on and continue to let the plain praise come out of us. He didnt want anything weighing him down for truly this was a time to celebrate!! His majesty had come down to the commoners level. He ate and drank and gave the people the finest of spiced bread and cakes, as well as wine. For his majesty, God almighty is allowing pieces of his glory to be sent down for us to enjoy in praise and worship. He also has given us the best bread of life to eat and the sweetest spirit of wine to drink. Scripture says "they brought it up (meaning the ark) into the royal city with shouting and with sounds of trumpets", expressing their own joy in loud acclamations and giving notice to all to rejoice with them. "I Sam. 10:5 As you approach the town, you will meet a procession of prophets coming down from the high place with lyres, tambourines, flutes and harps being played before them, and they will be prophesying. The Spirit of the Lord will come upon you in power, and you will prophecy with them; and you be changed into a different person. Once these signs are fulfilled, do whatever your hand finds to do, for God is with you." Continue to provoke your neighbor to give him praise!! Its time to Dance like David did! David prayed to the Lord in Psalm. 132; to not reject him; "the Lord swore an oath to David, a sure oath that he would not revoke one of his own descendants. The Lord said, "I will place on your throne-if your sons keep my covenant and the statues and teach them, then their sons will sit on your throne for ever and ever." "For the Lord has chosen Zion he has desired it for his dwelling; this is my resting place for ever and ever, here will I sit enthroned for I have desired it." "I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor will I satisfy with food. I will clothe her priests with salvation and her saints will ever sing for joy." Here I will make a horn grow for David and set up a lamp for my anointed one." "I will clothe his enemies with shame; but the crown on his head will be resplendent", which means to have great beauty and splendor. In this prayer we also see that it is a pleasure to a good man to see his errors rectified and himself in the way of his duty. This Psalm is so very true today. If we teach our children the statues and stress that they need to keep that covenant then God will not revoke any of them. Their childrens children will be blessed. He shall clothe and feed them for as long as they live; the word said and "set up a lamp for them, so that they may find their way to him. Hes going to clothe the enemy with shame yet the children of God shall have great beauty. Its time to pray like David prayed! Lastly, we know David as the Warrior that slew Goliath. I Samuel 17: 40, 41,45,46 "And he took his staff in his hand and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook and put them in a Shepards bag which he had, and his sling was in his hand; and he drew near to the Philistine." "And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bares the shield went before him." "Then said David to the Philistine, thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield; but I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied." "This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcass of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel." "And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the Lords, and he will give you into our hands." "And it came to pass when the Philistine arose and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine." "And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth." David chose 5 smooth stones, 5 means grace, smooth is defined as a surface free of roughness; the word stone simply means a rock made in a definite shape for a special purpose. He chose 5 stones but only used 1 stone to kill the giant and in biblical numerology 1 represents God. David definitely had a special purpose for the stone that fit in his sling. He meant to kill Goliath and the glory of the Lord was meant to shine thru him as he met the enemy on the battlefield. The Lord is saying that today if we take him, the only one, into battle with us; we cannot lose. His grace is sufficient unto thee. He we deliver us from the enemy and we walk away with Victory in his name. These are the days of David, the Saints must proclaim the Lord in victory, we must go into the camp and take back what belongs to us as David did with the Ark, we must pray for our sons as he did in the Psalms and we must continue to seek the Lord for refuge in our time of despair and weakness, we must play the harp of compassion for our enemies, and yes take cover as David did when you cant quite understand Gods plan for your life; depend on the sword in the spirit, which is the word of God and never take His grace and mercy for granted; allow the smooth stone, the rock of offence and chief cornerstone to continue to tear down and build up your cities; stand guard at every post, watch from atop the roof, scope out your enemy from afar; confound him in praise; allow your weapons bearer to hand you all the tools that you need to get thru the battle in your mind; allow the scarlet veil to hang over your door posts and out your windows; anoint your children; and as Moses; allow them to float by faith basket down the river of life and be found by Gods hands; As David had a desire to build Gods house; we must desire that same thing to be a part of kingdom building for the next generations to come.
