Efrem Smith is an internationally recognized leader and speaker who uses storytelling, comedy, and passion to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ at a level that people can understand, and teaches how to live that life on a daily basis.
He has served as Program Coordinator for the Hospitality House Boys and Girls Club, as the Urban Director for The Minnesota Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Executive Director of the Park Avenue Foundation and as the Associate Pastor of Park Avenue United Methodist church, all located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Currently, he serves as pastor of The Sanctuary Covenant Church and board chair of The Sanctuary Community Development Corporation in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He also hosts the radio program, A Time for Reconciliation and is author of the
books, Raising-up Young Heroes and The Hip Hop Church. His column, The Urban Take is featured in Youth
Worker Journal.
Efrem is a graduate of Saint Johns University and Luther Theological Seminary. Efrem has been a keynote speaker at many conferences and events for organizations such as Athletes In Action, the Alive Music Festival, the Hip Hop Summit at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship, Campus Crusade For Christ, Youth Specialties, YWCA, and Compassion International.
Efrem lives in Minneapolis with his wife Donecia and two daughters, Jaeda and Mireya. He has received many awards such as the Role Model Award from the Hennepin County Community Coalition and the Community Service Award from Saint Johns University.
