Children, so innocent, so trusting. We are Gods children, do we trust Him like that?
Prayer Warrior Ministries - The Lord has been revealing some things to me lately, some that are very painful to admit about myself, and others that are not so painful, that I welcome Him to reveal.
One of the main things that He has been trying to get through my thick skull is no matter how bad things look to me, He is right there with me. I am not alone.
God wants me to recognize Him in all things, good or bad, and to just be still, and know He is God.
It's real easy to recognize God in the good times, on the good days, when the breeze is gentle and cool. But let it storm, and whoa, watch out, I am shouting for God, "Where are You? Why did You leave me?"
I figure God has to have a whole lot of patience for me in those times, for I am like Peter. I stand on the water, thinking hey, look at me! One minute I am on the water, and then, whoops, I start going under.
Peter walked all the way out to Jesus, then looked at the storm, as I tend to do.
I look at the waves crashing around my ankles, and sometimes they are so big that they even splash my face. Next thing I know, down I go.
Once again, Jesus has to take my hand, and lead me to the boat, where I fall at His feet, and worship Him, thanking Him for saving me again.
I think that alot of us have been in this same place before. For one minute, we take our eyes off Jesus, look around us, and we start to go under.
For that split second, we are afraid we are going to drown.
We fear.
Then, we can feel the hand of Jesus in ours, and we are being pulled up out of what we thought would be our final resting place, and hauled in like so much dead weight, and dumped unceremoniously into the boat, huffing and puffing, out of breath. O Lord, O Lord, I was so frightened out there, I thought I was a goner for sure. He looks at us with compassion and love, and assures us that He will never leave us, nor forsake us.
Sometimes I think I detect a little bit of humor in His voice, and can picture Him saying, "Silly goose, you really thought I would leave you?"
I usually walk away from these episodes a little bit subdued, and a whole lot relieved.
Recognizing God is with us all the time, whether we FEEL Him there, or get a WORD, is our goal.
When I was a child, my family would go on vacations into the mountains of Colorado, or New Mexico.
My dad would always drive us on those trips and I remember the feeling of absolute confidence that if Daddy said we were going to the mountains, then by George, that is where we were going. I could put my pillow down in the back of that station wagon, and go to sleep, fully assured that MY daddy was going to get me to those mountains, and that we were going to have a fun time when we got there.
I never was concerned about how much the cost of gasoline was, or how tired he must have been. All I knew was he said we were going, and that was that.
How God longs for us to have that kind of trust with us.
To simply say, O Goody! We are going to the mountains! Then lay back, and know that when we wake up, we're there dude!
God craves for us to have that simple child-like faith in Him.
He wants us to simply sit still in the back seat and let Him drive.
We shouldn't be concerned over anything, His word tells us, DO NOT WORRY.
When we have the word of God to lean on, then we actually have the WORD of God (Jesus) to lean on.
We have Gods promises to us, that no matter what happens, He is there, in the midst of it, right there beside us.
We can walk through the fire as Shadrac, Meschac, and Abednego did, and know that God is in the fire with us.
We can have unsaved loved ones come to know Jesus as Lord, because God said that our houses shall be saved.
We can even be put in prisons and know that God can shake the earth and open the cells.
Child-like faith is not so hard to accomplish, if we simply take God at His word.
I remember a saying that my old pastor used to say when I was little.
"God said it, I believe it, and that settles it!"
That's the place I want to be, just to look at the Word of God, in wide-eyed innocence, and know, God said that, I believe it, and that settles it!
I'm going to hop in that car, and just simply trust that God is going to take us where He said He would.
You're going to have to scoot over because DADDY is driving, and I'm going to curl up and go to sleep!
