New Stem Cell Research Bill Could Promote Human Cloning, Destroying Embryos
President Barack Obama issued an executive order this year to force taxpayers to fund embryonic stem cell research that destroys human life. Now that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has issued the guidelines to implement that decision, a pro-cloning member of Congress wants to open the door further.
Adult stem cells can be taken from just about any tissue, like blood or skin.
"The first patient who came in to the emergency room was paralyzed on one side of his body and couldn't speak," Dr. David Prentice of the Family Research Council. "Within 24 hours, they used his own adult stem cells and 11 days later, he had no signs of paralysis and said his first words."
In an article published in Tuesday's edition of The Washington Times, the group known as the Children of God for Life is calling for a boycott of products manufactured by San Francisco's Neocutis Incorporated. The company acknowledges a key ingredient in its product line was developed from an aborted boy.
